Comparing reception check-in workflows: Envoy and Sine

Compare invited, walk-in and assisted visitor arrivals by following the reception hand-off and departure record.

Compare the routes an invited guest, a walk-in and someone needing staff help can take at reception. Envoy documents kiosk sign-in, dashboard entry and visitor-log sign-out; Sine by Honeywell documents check-in and check-out by kiosk, phone or computer. Host hand-off and departure records also matter when choosing a route.

Map the arrival routes

Check whether an invited guest can match their visit, a walk-in can start without an invitation and reception can create an entry for someone who needs help. Compare the kiosk, phone and computer routes with any staff-entered route.

At hand-off, check what host information and notification status reception can see. At departure, compare how staff sign visitors out and check who remains on site.

Compare the documented routes

Envoy’s iPad accepts walk-ins: visitors tap “Tap to sign in” and follow the steps. Returning visitors can enter their full name and confirm a masked email or phone number, after which their fields fill in automatically.

Envoy’s iPad can also fill in details for a matched invitation. Sine offers self-serve kiosks and digital invitations with FastTrack QR on Small; Medium adds FastTrack pre-registration.

For assisted arrivals, Envoy lets reception create an entry from the dashboard on Premium and Enterprise, with the option to send a host notification and print a visitor badge. Sine lists check-in through Sine Core on a computer, as well as through SinePoint Pro on an iPad and Sine Pro on a visitor’s phone.

Rehearse the exception

For a changed-host hand-off, Envoy’s Visitor Log shows whom the visitor was visiting and can display host notification status. Sine’s quickstart describes adding hosts, advance visitor invitations and arrival alerts by SMS, email or push notification; Medium adds native EntraID sync to keep host lists up to date.

Envoy’s Visitor Log shows sign-in and sign-out times, with a Sign out button for visitors still signed in. Its options menu also includes sign out, and the view can filter for visitors who are currently signed in.

Sine lists check-in and check-out through Sine Core on a computer, SinePoint Pro on an iPad and Sine Pro on a visitor’s phone. Small also lists geofence auto check-in and out, plus pocket-ready roll calls in Sine Pro to see who is on site and take a headcount.

Envoy matches invited visitors using an exact name and email match for the expected arrival date. A nickname, typo or arrival on a different day prevents the invitation details from filling in automatically.

To locate an Envoy entry, search the Visitor Log by word, phrase or group; change the date before searching for an entry that is not from today. The sign-in status view can show all visitors, your visitors or only those currently signed in.
